Welcome to the Northern Locality
The Northern Locality is committed to our vision of 'Healthy people, living healthy lives, in healthy communities'. In these pages you will find information about the locality, our clinical board meetings and local events or public consultations.
Who we are and what we do
Based in North Devon we form one of three localities of NHS Northern Eastern and Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group (NHS NEW Devon CCG).
We have 20 General Practitioner (GP) member practices and cover a population of 166,093 over an area of 950 square miles; we have a large rural geography with coastal towns, farming communities and several popular holiday destinations.
We use information related to the needs of the population to make sure we can plan, agree and pay for (commission) enough high quality services to suit the needs of people in our area.
This care may be provided by acute hospitals (for example North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple) or by other care providers such as community partners, dentists, or pharmacies amongst others.
